Labor leader Anthony Albanese rallies troops with Annastacia Palaszczuk days out from the election

A Scott Morrison supporter has infiltrated a Labor event with the double agent hiding in plain sight.

A photo from the campaign trail on Thursday shows Anthony Albanese with Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk in the Brisbane suburb of Indooroopilly.

But among the sea of smiling faces in red shirts and Labor banners a solitary man in a blue cap peers over the shoulder of a bearded man at centre-right of the frame.

The large Liberal National Party logo emblazoned on the unknown man’s cap appears to have gone unnoticed by Mr Albanese’s camp.

Mr Albanese has been on a whirlwind visit of marginal seats with just two days to go until the federal election.

The Opposition leader started Thursday off in the Sydney seat of Bennelong but was in Brisbane by the afternoon visiting multiple electorates.

He campaigned at a pre-polling site in Ryan – where the picture was snapped and posted to his Twitter – before visiting another early voting site in the nearby electorate of Dickson.

Earlier on Thursday, Mr Albanese indicated he wanted to maximise the success of a referendum recognising Australia’s Indigenous people in the constitution.

The opposition leader has said he would seek to implement the Uluru Statement from the Heart in full, should Labor win Saturday’s election.

Mr Albanese said an Indigenous voice to parliament would not be a third chamber of parliament.

‘I want to work with First Nations people on the timetable for a referendum, I also want to reach out across the aisle,’ he said on Thursday.

He also made yet another blunder is a campaign marked by stumbles.

Speaking on ABC News Breakfast on Thursday morning he claimed Australia’s border are closed, when they have been open to vaccinated travelers for months.

‘Two days before an election campaign, though, and an unemployment rate sitting so low will surely give the government a boost for their argument about how they run the economy?’ host Lisa Millar said.

‘Our borders are closed, Lisa. Our borders are closed. People are doing it tough,’ Mr Albanese replied.

‘That’s having an impact on employment figures, we know that that’s the case,’ he added.

‘We want an economy that works for people, not people working for the economy. That’s why we’ll take the pressure off the cost of living by offering cheaper child care, cheaper electricity prices’.

A few hours later he cleared up the gaffe at a press conference stating he intended to say ‘the borders were closed’.

On Thursday Labor also released their costings just two days out from election day – and revealed they will spend $7.4billion more than the Coalition.

Shadow Treasurer Jim Chalmers claimed the difference in spending was ‘modest’.

‘The modest $7.4 billion difference between the two budgets is made up of key investments in childcare, investments in training and education, and investments in cleaner and cheaper energy,’ he said.

They also will also scrap a regionalisation grant program to save money and estimate they can save $400million by scrapping temporary protection visa and letting refugees stay permanently.

This prompted Scott Morrison to fire back that this would cause an influx in boats of border jumpers illegally trying to travel to Australia as it did when previous Labor PM Kevin Rudd tried the same tactic in 2008.

‘They (Labor) can manage borders no better than they can manage money,’ he said.

    Albanese’s campaign gaffes

April 11: Wrongly guessed the unemployment rate was 5.4% and couldn’t state the Reserve Bank interest rate

April 12: Admitted he did not know who Human Rights Commissioner Lorraine Finlay was

April 13: Stormed out of a press conference after only 10 questions, two days after saying: ‘I’m not Scott Morrison, I don’t run away from press conferences’

May 5: Failed to outline his six-point plan for the NDIS until an advisor handed him a policy document to read from in a press conference

May 19: Bizarrely claimed Australia’s borders are closed when they have been open for three months
