Revealed: Eerie ‘life’s too short’ social media posts of French daredevil Remi Lucidi who fell to his death climbing 721ft Hong Kong skyscraper – as videos show his daring escapades on high-rise buildings around the world

The French daredevil who fell to his death while climbing a 721ft skyscraper in Hong Kong eerily wrote ‘life’s too short’ in his social media posts in the days leading up to the fatal stunt, it has been revealed.

Remi Lucidi would rail against criticism of his hair-raising escapades that saw him standing on top of high-rise structures reaching over 950ft high – whether that be skyscrapers or more obscure structures such as cranes, bridges or pylons.

Videos show how Lucidi, 30, was no stranger to putting his life on the line when climbing these eye wateringly high buildings – but his latest escapade to the top of a 721ft high skyscraper proved fatal.

Lucidi, known as ‘Remi Enigma’ on social media, had reached the 68th floor of the Tregunter Tower, a residential block in Hong Kong’s upscale Mid-Levels area, when he plunged to his death.

The young adventurer had been seen by a maid knocking on the windows of the penthouse to get back inside the building, but fell to his death before any help could arrive on Thursday.

Lucida often shared scores of videos and photographs of him smiling while standing precariously close to the edge of high-rise buildings – all while eerily writing that ‘life is too short’ and ‘your comfort zone will kill you’ in the social media posts.

    .

In another video, Lucidi can be standing on top of a dangerously high crane while cars look like small dots down below in a situation that would make anyone’s legs shake with fear. In the nail-biting footage, Lucidi decides to test the limits even further and reaches out to a nearby pole and begins to do pull-ups while looking casually down at the sheer drop below

Lucida often shared scores of videos and photographs of him smiling while standing precariously close to the edge of high-rise buildings – all while eerily writing that ‘life is too short’ and ‘your comfort zone will kill you’ in the social media posts

Stomach-churning footage shows the Frenchman standing on the edge of a crane that is attached to the top of a high-rise building that is under construction while wearing no safety equipment. In the video, captioned ‘I’m a crane with no safeties’, waves to the camera as he pans around his view.

In another video, Lucidi can be standing on top of a dangerously high crane while cars look like small dots down below in a situation that would make anyone’s legs shake with fear.

In the nail-biting footage, Lucidi decides to test the limits even further and reaches out to a nearby pole and begins to do pull-ups while looking casually down at the sheer drop below.

Further footage, not for the faint hearted, shows Lucidi walking along the top of a bridge while vehicles travel at speed below. One small mistake would have proved fatal for the Frenchman.

In more nail-biting footage, Lucidi is seen climbing to the top of a 984ft tall chimney at the Provence Power Station in Gardanne – the tallest chimney in France.

The video shows the Frenchman scaling the crest of the chimney and walking around the circular top before sitting down and dangling his feet with the sheer drop below.

The daredevil would also post footage of himself clinging onto the back of moving trams or standing on top of trains and ducking just in time before a bridge nearly knocks him off the vehicle.

His posts of himself dangling off high-rise buildings often attracted criticism – but Lucidi always wrote that ‘life is too short’ and ignored their concerns.

One caption, which was posted alongside a photo of Lucidi on time of a Hong Kong skyscraper in 2019, read: ‘I am crazy that’s what people call me and that’s how I’m different.’

And alongside a photograph of him dangling his foot off the ledge of a high-rise building in Kyiv, Ukraine, Lucidi wrote: ‘Avoid negative people in your life especially if they say that you can’t do something. Find people who will support you.’

But for Lucidi, his latest mission to scale the top of the 721ft Tregunter Tower in Hong Kong proved fatal.

On the evening of his death last Thursday, Frenchman Lucidi had arrived at the tower at 7:30pm telling a security guard that he was visiting a friend on the 40th floor.

The resident whom he named has since denied knowing the thrill-seeker and was simply a ruse for Lucidi to bypass security.

Building surveillance camera footage then sees Lucidi getting out of the elevator on the 49th floor before taking the stairs to the very top on level 68.

The door to the rooftop was locked but Lucidi forced it open, determined to take another photograph from roof.

Many of the photos posted to his Instagram see him clinging to the spires of tall buildings and he may have been attempting to do the same when he fell and plunged to the ground.

Police found his sports camera, which contained videos of the extreme sports he had doing, according to the South China Morning Post.

On Instagram, Lucidi shared photos and videos of his climbing adventures with his more than 3,000 followers.

Recent posts saw him posing at the top of high-rise scaffolding and buildings in  countries across the globe, including Dubai, Bulgaria, and France.

Six days before his death, Lucidi, who described himself as a Hong Kong-based photographer, posted a photo from Times Square in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong to his Instagram page which is now full of tributes.

‘Rip brother. Sad news no one ever wants to hear about a fellow explorer,’ wrote one.

‘Stakes are high searching for amazing experiences. Eternal respect rest in peace,’ added another.

‘You’ll never leave us, you’re unique,’ said a third.

Lucidi had been staying at a hostel in Tsim Sha Tsui. The hostel’s owner described him ‘friendly and humble’.

‘He was healthy and fit and happy-faced,’ Gurjit Kaur told SCMP. ‘I feel very sad.

‘He told me he was going to hike a mountain when I asked where he was going. He said he wanted to hike a lot when he was here,’ he said.

Police found his passport and other belongings at the hostel.

The French consulate has been informed of Lucidi’s death as a police investigation in to the incident continues.
