The lights went down over the desert around 10:27 p.m. and the crowd began to chant: “Post-y, Post-y, Post-y.”

On the final night of Coachella Weekend One, Post Malone entered the main stage for his headlining performance, wearing a baseball cap and a vintage-looking tee, and holding a red solo cup in his hand.

Post turned the main stage into a rock & roll ramp fit for an F-1, complete with street lights that stood tall behind the band and barrels that spit fire scattered all over. It may have been time for the final headliner of a long, hot weekend in the desert, but fans showed up ready to party.

For over an hour-and-a-half on Sunday night, Post Malone rocked through his biggest hits throughout his career as fireworks rocketed off the stage at a rapid pace. Post kicked off the night with a string of fiery tracks like “Texas Tea,” Wow.,” and “Better Now,” along with tracks from his 2024 country LP F-1 Trillion, including “Wrong Ones” and “Losers” (no Tim McGraw or Jelly Roll this time). But Stagecoach this was not — Post still made plenty of time to dip into his past catalogue of hits.

“Ladies and gentleman, I present to you my only good song,” he seemingly joked when introducing “White Iverson,” the hit that made him famous nearly 10 years ago. The screen turned back into a night sky as a bridge appeared with a cityscape behind it. Post held his mic in one hand and his cigarette in the other to sing the track, a pedal steel guitar coming in for the assist.

“Austin, I love you!” a fan shouted, as Posty launched into a “song about a wristwatch,” better known as “Psycho.” Though the track originally featured Ty Dolla $ign, the songwriter performed the track solo.

Around 11:30 p.m., Post launched into “Rockstar,” as fans sang and danced around together. Then it was time for “I Had Some Help,” featuring country star Morgan Wallen. Fans went wild, and while it seemed like a duet was finally about to happen, Malone sang Wallen’s part. Still, Post played through the euphoric jam, walking out into the crowd.

    Editor’s picks

Later, Post appeared on a giant ripped-up billboard-like stage that lifted into the sky for “Congratulations.” Post danced along and sang to fans below as fire shot out of the top during the song’s chorus.

Toward the end of his set, Post Malone got reflective — and motivational — about the last decade of his career. “I remember at the beginning of everything, there was a lot of motherfuckers that really just called me a one-hit wonder. …”

He continued, “I just wanted to say that if you don’t believe in yourself then nobody fuckin’ else will, and I think that it is so fucking important that if you have a dream or if you have a goal or have a passion, I just want you to keep on fuckin’ chasin’ it. I want you to keep doing what you love and love who you love — and love what you love and keep fuckin’ doing it and keep kicking ass because there’s no one on this fuckin’ planet that can tell you shit.”

Standing up and addressing the crowd, Post remained suspended up in the air on the billboard. The music swelled and Post delivered the mantra “No one can fuckin’ stop you” over and over until he erupted into a scream, sparks spraying down from the top of the stage.

It was finally time for Weekend One to come to an end. Post played “Sunflower,” his final song of the night, and left the crowd with lots of gratitude. “Thank you, Coachella,” he said.” “Thank you so very much.”
