María Elena Salinas is exiting ABC News after two years.
Salinas took to her social media to share that she was exiting the news organization and reflected on her time there.
“Today is my last day at ABC News. It’s been a ride,” Salinas wrote on an Instagram post. “Leaving with great memories of the multiple stories I was able to work on in the almost 3 years I worked as a contributor, highlighting Latinos. Sharing just a few here.”
She continued, “Also leaving with my heart full of beautiful memories with the great journalists I got to work with. Special thanks to @emanvar and the whole team at @nightline as well as @ckgalliabc and the incredible #Uvalde365 team, without a doubt the highlight of my tenure here.”
Salinas also thanked ABC News Live and Kimberly Godwin “who believed I had something to offer to English language viewers after a lifetime of working en español at Univision.”
“When I left Univision I said I wanted to continue to tell our stories to different audiences in different platforms,” she added. “Mission accomplished. Now I can really retire. (maybe?).”
Salinas joined ABC News on March 30, 2022 after serving as a contributor for CBS News, which she joined in 2019. The television journalist began her career in 1981 as a reporter and anchor for Univision’s LA affiliate KMEX-TV. Salinas spent more than 30 years at the Spanish-language network, serving as a co-anchor to Noticiero Univision.
Her exit from ABC News comes the same day her former Univision co-anchor Jorge Ramos is set to anchor his last broadcast on Noticiero Univision.
