A family of four, including two teenage boys with ‘significant health challenges’, have been found dead inside their Perth home in a suspected double murder-suicide.
A person who provided care services for the teenagers who are understood to suffer ‘severe autism’ raised the alarm at about 8.15am after arriving at the home, in Mosman Park, in the city’s west, for a pre-arranged visit.
Police officers entered the home and discovered the bodies of a 50-year-old father, a 49-year-old mother, and their two boys aged 14 and 16.
Detective Acting Inspector Jessica Securo said it was being considered a ‘double murder-suicide’.
Two dogs and a cat were also found dead inside the home, and a note was located, but police have not disclosed what it said.
She said no weapon was used during the incident and there is no known history of family violence connected to those involved.
‘Although this investigation is in its infancy, police are investigating this matter as a double murder-suicide,’ she said.
She stated that the bodies of the family were located ‘in different parts of the property’.

‘There is no ongoing risk to the community.’
She said the two teenage boys had ‘significant health challenges’.
‘At this stage I’m not able to disclose how these persons are deceased,’ she said.
‘However, I do reiterate that there doesn’t appear to be a violent incident that has occurred at the house.’
During a press conference on Friday afternoon, Inspector Securo confirmed the note left behind at the home was ‘the main reason’ police suspect it was a double murder-suicide.
‘This is a highly distressing situation for all involved, from community members to the person that located the family to our first responders.’
St John WA has confirmed five ambulance crews were called to the scene at 8.29am.
West Australian Police remain at the scene, with several surrounding streets closed off.
