A 22-year-old British tourist, who was reported missing on the Gold Coast of Australia, has been found dead, as his grieving family issue touching tributes to the ‘beautiful grandson’.
Lewis Jack, 22, from Glasgow was last seen on Saturday night in Surfers Paradise, and Queensland Police on Tuesday asked the public for help to find him.
However on Wednesday morning, police issued an update confirming Mr Jack’s body had been found by water police about 7.40pm on Tuesday night.
The death is not being treated as suspicious, and detectives believe he fell into the water near the Isle of Capri while affected by alcohol and drowned.
Family and friends of Mr Jack, who was born in Glasgow, took to social media to express their shock, including his grandmother Margaret Mooney.
‘It is with a broken heart that I have to say my beautiful grandson has sadly been found. Thank you for all the lovely words and the shares,’ she said.
‘I can’t believe that am actually posting this. Lewis can’t believe your gone, the worst news, you’ll never be forgotten. Fly high,’ friend Gemma Robertson wrote.

‘Woke up to such sad news to hear of your passing Lewis, you was such a good lad with the purest soul,’ Jack Martin wrote.
Fiona Prude described Mr Jack as a ‘beautiful young man’.
‘My heart breaks for all Lewis’s family. I wish we could wrap you all in our arms, more so I wish we could have gotten Lewis safely back to you.’
It is understood Mr Jack caught an Uber from Cavill Avenue – the heart of Gold Coast’s nightlife – back to near his accommodation on Chevron Island but did not make it.
He was last seen walking on Gibraltar Drive which runs alongside the Nerang River.
