    Updated: 03:17, 8 January 2026

Vice President JD Vance called on Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to ‘work even harder’ after an agent shot dead a woman federal officials claim rammed her vehicle into him.

Protests have sprung up across the country following the death of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis on Wednesday, but Vance said he, President Donald Trump ‘and the entire administration’ stands behind ICE officers.

‘To the radicals assaulting them, doxxing them, and threatening them: congratulations, we’re going to work even harder to enforce the law,’ he wrote on X.

The president has previously claimed on his Truth Social page that Good was ‘a professional agitator’ who ‘violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer’ before the agent acted in self defense.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem then reiterated that claim as she spoke to reporters Wednesday night, claiming that Good had been ‘stalking’ agents prior to the shooting.

‘It’s very clear that this individual was harassing and impeding law enforcement operations,’ she said, before calling on federal prosecutors to charge individuals who use their vehicles to ram ICE agents as domestic terrorism.

But Democrat Mayor Frey has blasted ICE’s characterization of the shooting and told them to ‘get the f**k out of Minneapolis.’

‘They are already trying to spin this as an act of self-defense. Having seen the video myself, I wanna tell everybody directly, that is bull****.’

Vance says ICE will ‘work even harder’

In a statement on X, Vice President JD Vance said ICE is now ‘going to work even harder.’

‘I want every ICE officer to know that their president, vice president, and the entire administration stands behind them,’ he said.

‘To the radicals assaulting them, doxxing them, and threatening them: congratulations, we’re going to work even harder to enforce the law.’

Noem claimed the victim was ‘stalking’ ICE officers

Noem said at the news conference that Renee Nicole Good had been ‘stalking’ immigration enforcement agents prior to the shooting.

‘It’s very clear that this individual was harassing and impeding law enforcement operations,’ she said, before calling on federal prosecutors to charge individuals who use their vehicles to ram ICE agents as domestic terrorism.

The Department of Homeland Security said they were acting in self-defense when the agent opened fire.

    Minneapolis Public Schools cancel classes

Minneapolis Public Schools announced that ‘out of an abundance of caution’ the district has canceled classes on Thursday and Friday ‘due to safety concerns related to today’s incidents around the city.’

All programs and activities including athletics will be canceled.

The district will not move to virtual e-learning because that is only allowable for severe weather.

Estimated 10,000 people at Minneapolis rally

An estimated 10,000 people gathered in Minneapolis Wednesday night for a rally following Renee Nicole Good’s death, according to reports.

House Majority Whip calls Walz, Frey ‘cowards’

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, of Minnesota, slammed Walz and Frey as he prayed for the safety of ‘every law enforcement officer on the ground in Minnesota right now.

‘Tim Walz and Jacob Frey are cowards who are inciting violence to distract from their own failures,’ he posted on social media. ‘ It’s dangerous. Stay Safe ICE.’

Senate candidate from Maine says shooting was ‘inevitable’

Graham Platner, a Senate candidate from Maine, said the shooting was ‘inevitable.’

‘When you send armed, under-trained amateurs into American communities with vague orders and no accountability, this is inevitable,’ he wrote on X.

He reiterated that sentiment in an accompanying video, in which he declared that ‘dismantling ICE is the moderate position now.

‘We need to pull the people responsible for the killing of Americans in front of the justice system,’ Platner said. ‘And we also need to hold accountable those that empowered this madness.

‘It needs to come to an end,’ he continued. ‘ICE needs to get out of Maine. ICE needs to get off American streets. And we need to get back to being a nation that cares about each other.’

    Ilhan Omar calls Trump ‘delusional’

Rep. Ilhan Omar called President Donald Trump ‘delusional’ for his post defending the ICE agent who shot and killed Renee Nicole Good.

‘That’s [an] incredibly delusional statement,’ she told CNN’s Jake Tapper Wednesday night.

‘We’ve all seen the video, we’ve seen it on multiple angles. You can see no ICE agent falls to the ground, no one is run over. So to rewrite something that is still so visibly available, everywhere, that people can see just shows how disturbingly delusional our president has become.

‘The people have their own eyes, they can make their own judgments, and certainly when this investigation is over, we are going to now really what has taken place, and I hope that leads to accountability.’

She later added that she hopes ‘that the president wakes up from his delusion and understands that sending ICE into Minneapolis is really not protecting us – it is creating danger for all of us.’

    Amnesty International condemns shooting

Amnesty International has condemned the shooting.

‘The Trump administration has taken the life of yet another person through the unnecessary use of lethal force – driven by its cruel, anti-immigrant agenda – and again blatantly lied about the circumstances,’ the group said.

‘The growing presence of ICE, along with militarized crackdowns on protests we have witnessed in recent months, have violated the right to freedom of expression and made our communities unsafe, harming all of us.

‘This killing, as well as all ICE-related custodial deaths, must be thoroughly investigated and those responsible for abuses held accountable. More broadly, the attack on our communities by the Trump administration must stop now.’

Minnesota police organization condemns ‘inflammatory’ language against law enforcement

The Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association is condemning ‘irresponsible, reckless rhetoric’ from political leaders in the aftermath of Wednesday’s ICE shooting.

‘The Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association stands firmly behind law enforcement officers, accountability under the law, and the safety of every Minnesota community,’ the statement reads.

‘Irresponsible, reckless rhetoric from political leaders attacking law enforcement has real and dangerous consequences for officers on the street.

‘When officers are vilified, demonized, or used as political props, it fuels hostility, emboldens bad actors, and puts lives directly at risk.’

House Democrats say ICE ‘secret police can kill you’

House Democrats on the Homeland Security Committee have spoken out against the ICE-involved shooting.

‘What American citizens should understand: Kristi Noem’s secret police can kill you— then lie and call you a terrorist,’ the group posted on X.

    ‘That’s what they’re doing now.’

House Rep from Chicago files Articles of Impeachment against Noem

Robin Kelly, a Congresswoman from Chicago, has announced she is filing Articles of Impeachment against Noem.

‘I am impeaching Secretary Kristi Noem, who is an incompetent leader and a disgrace to our democracy,’ she wrote on X.

‘She wreaked havoc in the Chicagoland area and has brought her reign of terror to Minneapolis. One of her rogue ICE agents shot and killed an innocent woman today. It must come to an end.’

‘I refuse to stay silent while Secretary Noem breaks the rule of law and terrorizes our communities,’ Kelly added.

She said the Articles of Impeachment would be for violating the public trust, obstructing Congress, and self-dealing.

Elizabeth Warren calls for ICE to be reigned in by Congress

Sen. Elizabeth Warren called for ICE to be reigned in by Congress following Wednesday’s shooting.

‘This rogue agency’s escalating presence brings more and more danger to our communities,’ she wrote on X.

‘Donald Trump and ICE must be reined in by Congress and the courts before more people get hurt.’
