Newly elected Prime Minister Anthony Albanese sternly told the audience to ‘behave’ themselves during his victory speech on Saturday evening – and it turns out one particular member of the crowd sparked the outburst.

KIIS FM radio personality Peter Deppeller – better known as ‘Intern Pete’ – was attending an election night party at colleague Jackie O’s Sydney mansion when he realised Mr Albanese had won.

He and producer Pedro Vitola then hightailed it over to Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL Club to join the celebrations.

‘It was Pete’s dream to introduce Albo onto the stage,’ Pedro explained on the Kyle and Jackie O Show on Monday morning.

‘But that had not been pre-planned right? You can’t just show up unannounced,’ Kyle said.

‘No, he just thought he could be the MC,’ Pedro laughed.

He sternly told the crowd to behave

The mates rocked up at the party, were let inside due to their media accreditation, and positioned themselves near where Mr Albanese was due to enter.

‘So we barge through the crowd to get to the front of the stage and Albo walks out.’

‘After every single little pause that Albo had, Pete decided to start a chant of his name which absolutely no-one joined in’.

‘I’d had a few beers,’ Pete told the hosts.

He was told to be quiet

Pedro then played for the hosts the ‘moment where Albo had had enough’ and told Pete to pipe down.

‘My fellow Australians… I think they’ve got the name by now,’ Mr Albanese told the crowd on Saturday night.

‘I know at the beginning of the campaign they said people didn’t know me, but I reckon they’ve got it.’

The crowd then cheered, prompting Pete to yell out again.

‘Can we have a bit of order please? I intend to run an orderly government and it starts here. So behave!’ Mr Albanese fired back sternly.

Pedro explained he was looking ‘directly at Pete’ when he made the remark.

He also played the audio he was recording from next to Pete where the rest of his comments can be heard.

‘It’s Intern Pete from Kyle and Jackie O, we love you,’ Pete yelled to the stage.

The mortified hosts then questioned why he’d brought them into it.

‘Why did you use our name?’ Kyle asks.

‘I think I’m having a panic attack,’ Jackie O added.

But the night didn’t stop there, with Pedro explaining after Mr Albanese walked off stage they found a ‘secret door next to the toilets which happened to be unlocked’.

Hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O were none too pleased the pair had used their names to get in the door (pictured)

‘This door was clearly where VIPs go, I’ve hung around with you guys enough to work this out,’ Pete said.

So Pete and Pedro ventured up into the passages backstage only to be greeted by Federal Police officers guarding the PM-elect.

‘It’s Peter from Kyle and Jackie O,’ he tells the AFP officers, again dropping the hosts in it.

‘Outside now before I arrest you,’ the officer can be heard telling the pair, who promptly turn around.

‘Ugghh you know those kids your parents don’t want you hanging around cause they’re a bad influence? That’s Pete,’ Jackie said.

Mr Albanese was sworn in as Australia’s 31st prime minister on Monday just hours ahead of a trip to Tokyo to meet with Quad leaders US President Joe Biden, host leader Fumio Kishida and Indian prime minister Narendra Modi.

Vote counting from Saturday’s election is yet to confirm whether Mr Albanese’s party will have a majority.

Richard Marles was also sworn in as Deputy Prime Minister, Penny Wong as Foreign Minister, Jim Chalmers as Treasurer and Katy Gallagher as Finance Minister.

The ministers will run all portfolios until the Labor caucus can meet the week after next to put in place a full ministry.

The prime minister issued a statement on Sunday night, saying he would use the international summit to talk about his government’s ambitions to tackle climate change and pursue a stronger foreign policy focus on the region.
