China‘s military has run wargames that simulate battles near Mexico and Cuba in a worrying sign of Beijing‘s growing ambitions of global domination.
The People’s Liberation Army simulated battles in Cuba, the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea, along with the Sea of Okhotsk and Taiwan at an event in Xuchang, Henan province, according to local media.
The wargaming event was attended by 20 military units. One screen shown in the local media broadcast appeared to show opposing units, coloured red and blue, moving towards each other near the coasts of Cuba and Mexico.
Many of the blue-coloured units were seen near Houston, Texas, heading into the Gulf of Mexico. The red units, meanwhile, were seen in the Caribbean Sea.
On another screen, red units were seen near Russia‘s far eastern coast, while blue units were positioned over Hokkaido, Japan, as well as the disputed Kuril Islands.
And on a third screen, Taiwan was featured at the centre of a map used in the wargame.
Red-coloured units are normally used to represent the Chinese military, while blue-coloured units represent enemy forces.
While the PLA has held frequent military exercises around Taiwan, and has conducted joint training with Russia in the Sea of Okhotsk and the Sea of Japan, this is one of the first times China has publicly revealed its preparations for possible military actions in the Americas.

The signal of China’s growing military boldness comes as Donald Trump revealed the US Navy will soon get a new class of vessels that he has dubbed ‘Trump-class’.
The president approved plans to begin the immediate construction of the first two vessels, which he claims will be the largest and most powerful battleships in human history.
The first ship will be called the ‘USS Defiant.’
Calling the current fleet ‘old, tired, and obsolete,’ Trump vowed to move the Navy in the ‘exact opposite direction.’
Trump explaining that these new 30,000 to 40,000-ton vessels are designed to be 100 times more powerful than the legendary Iowa-class battleships of World War II.
While the plan begins with two ships, the administration intends to expand rapidly to a fleet of 10, with an ultimate goal of 20 to 25 battleships.
The Trump-class vessels are being designed as high-tech fortresses, featuring state-of-the-art electric rail guns, hypersonic weapons and high-powered lasers that can ‘wipe out’ targets.

The ships will also reportedly have nuclear-armed capabilities, AI integration and massive guns that can deliver lethal force at a ‘tiny fraction of the cost’ of missiles.
The president emphasized that these ships will be built in American navy yards, creating thousands of jobs and reviving the domestic shipbuilding industry.
